Announcements
Ty was cleaning out his piggy bank getting ready for his move to CA, and cashed in $40+ --
which he donated to help fund the Safe Harbor play set. Speaking of the play set, Jack
reported that it has been ordered for Safe Harbor. Brian will help raise the balance of the $$.
Additional advertisement forms for the pancake breakfast were distributed. So far, 7 ads have
been sold.
The annual caucus will be held April 1
st
at 6:30pm, to elect Lt Gov and Lt Gov Elect for our
division next year. Planning to attend: Glen, Dianne, Susan, Mary Jane, Sam, Bob W, Jack B.
There was an Interclub last night at the Aktion Club meeting in Mashpee – Irene, Len, Jack B,
Bob W. In two weeks, the next meeting is scheduled at Hyannis Life Center.
Rev Richard has purchased several wagons in support of our plant sale. The Benny’s
manager nicely reduced the price for them. Rev Richard asked for volunteers to help put
these together – with offers to help from Kristin, Chuck and Ty.
The slate of officers for next year will be read next week with a vote to follow. At that time,
nominations may also be made from the floor.

Today’s Program: Kathleen Giorgio was invited back to our club to update us on Camp Dream Day. With funding
sources lower than ever, they continue to appeal to civic groups for assistance. In this regard, our club has been a
leader, and she thanked us very much. As a result of our s upport, several other Kiwanis clubs have joined in to assist,
with donations and offers to help with camp clean-up and upkeep projects.
For our newer members, Kathleen gave an overview of their camp, called Nan-Ke-Rafe -- 18 acres on the back
side of Nickerson State park, with 8 cabins at the present time. During the summer, they hold 6 sessions of family
camp for 8 families per session. Their purpose – to offer respite, recreation, and a chance to create loving, caring
memories for ill children, their parents, and their siblings – with camp fires, canoes, songs, games, cookouts, etc. This
year they decided to hire a professional camp director instead of student interns. In the off season, this position will do
the hiring for the next season. In addition they are creating a nature center and will hire a nature and wildlife
coordinator to enhance this aspect of their program, through trips to various places on site and on Cape for families to
enjoy. Brian Morrison from Hyannis is planning a full service day to clean up the camp on May 22
nd
. Our cabin
cleanup is May 28
th
. We plan on adding new furniture to the cabin, along with a new refrigerator, and skid strips for the
ramp. The painting of all picnic tables is also a planned club project – date, to be determined. Many service days with
a variety of organizations will be set up all the way through the end of June. Despite these new positions, the
personnel budget will remain the same through a reconfiguration of staff to maximize resources. They aim for level
funding this year.
