Club Updates and Events
Health and Wellness:
Both Mary Jane and Joe Marino’s diesel truck were under the weather today. Get well soon
to you both!
Builders Club:
A total of $852.00 was raised by their school for Haiti relief, thanks to the coordinating efforts
of the Builders Club – including $88 from the cash donation cans, and $200+ for the French
club’s sale of crepes. The winner of the 75/25 raffle was a member of the Builders club, and
upon winning, she donated her portion back to Haiti! Club members are still interested in
bringing bingo at the Epoch Center in Brewster – Sundays from 1:30-2:30. Epoch Center
staff will take care of all the prizes. Tentative dates are March 21
st
, April 18
th
, and May 23
rd
.
Nauset Regional High School Key Club:
Our three officer guests last week were very appreciative of their visit to our club. The Key
Club held a bake sale at the high school for 2 days. No report yet as to how they made out.
Harwich High School Key Club:
Dianne and Jack B went to their last meeting. 15 members were in attendance. Tomorrow
they will be serving as the wait staff for 120 special needs folks at the community center.
Some of the peer leadership members are also helping with a spaghetti dinner on March 24
th
at 5:00pm in the Harwich HS cafeteria to assist Haiti relief. They have recently added a few
new members, so they are now at 35.

Announcements
Rev Richard reports that the club received a very nice card from Claire and Jim Junkins for
the flower arrangement we recently sent to them.
We were all sad to hear that Ty will soon be moving back to California. Len made it clear that
his membership this year will remain active so he is always welcome when he comes back
East to visit.
Bob Duarte reminded us that May 28
th
is our day for Dream Day cleanup. Our official club
meeting will be held at Dream Day that morning, with cleanup to follow. Sam has agreed to
convene a round table meeting at H n’ K in case some members cannot help out at the camp.
Jack B introduced his guest, Amy, from TDBank in Harwichport. Jack met Amy as a customer
of TDBank. Amy is very involved in the community, including the Chamber of Commerce, and
the family pantry; and is both an actress and a singer. She works at the 4
th
most successful
branch of TBBank, and it is good for all of our members to know that they have a free coin
machine at that branch! Amy is a graduate of Nauset High School and Cape Cod Community
College, and was a very welcomed guest.
Jack B mentioned that he went to Central Cape last night to speak with them about the Aktion
club and the Division project play set for Safe Harbor.
Sam announced that Mary Jane would like to organize a trip next Friday to the local County
Playhouse where the Music Man is being performed, starring Paul Widegren. For ticket
information, contact the Rosens.
The Nominating Committee is almost ready to announce the slate of officers for next year –
perhaps as early as next week.
The Board and Finance Committee meetings were rescheduled to next week, due to snow.
And last, but surely not least, here is our Scooter update: Scooter continues to do well. He is
hobbling on 3 legs, but had a good report from the doctor. An Ode to Scooter beautifully
written by Christine was equally beautifully read by Rev Richard.

Many sad $$ were given at Ty’s news that
he will soon be moving way off-cape! In
addition, there were “just happy” $$ for our
club, for our guest, and get well $$ for
Mary Jane. Bob D happily spoke of his
cruise next week to the Carribean. Rev
Richard was happy that Scooter is doing
well; and Anton for the upcoming visit of
his granddaughter for a week. Len spoke
with gusto that the Red Sox are 3 and 0 –
with a “Hear me, Mary Jane” thrown in.
Sam was looking forward to next week’s
annual club sing –

Smiling –

KIWANIS CLUB OF LOWER CAPE COD
Friday, March 5, 2010 Page 3
Today’s Program: Since the Board Meeting was cancelled this week due to weather challenges, Len spoke in place
of the open meeting about the club’s website –
www.kiwanisoflowercapecod.org
. On average, 30 people a month are
visiting our site. Joe Marino has been doing a lot of good work on our front page – and beyond. To fill in some of our
gaps, Len is looking for ideas on the history of our club -- Please send any info you may have to him. Currently on our
“public” website, you can find links to all of the Kiwanis family, including local clubs and the various student leadership
sites. The left-hand navigation bar is about us – our officers, our events, the history of our club, etc. In addition, ads
are for sale – so local businesses and sponsors can advertise from our site, with a link directly to their own website.
Beyond the public website, there is much more when a member logs in. The first time you log in, you will use your e-
mail address and your Kiwanis number – contact Rev Richard if you cannot locate this number. Inside the members
only site, here you can see our member contact info and photos, plus district, division, club, and committee information.
One of the most useful places is the Communications link – where you can e-mail all members or certain members of
our club. Also, under the Communication link, you will find a history of board minutes, financial statements, and club
procedures as they are established.
Within the Kiwanis International site, there are many resources available to members, including training, free webinars,
Kiwanis photos and icons to download, etc. Moreover, within the Kiwanis store you can find all sorts of stuff to buy –
for club or your own personal use.
Please try logging into our website – You’ll like it!
