Nauset Regional High School Key Club: Six key clubbers helped with the Pancake
Breakfast, and each did a fantastic job. Some members also plan to help with our upcoming
Plant Sale, as well as our Dream Day camp cleanup. Autumn has been elected as the new

a real take-charge person.

Announcements
At the Harwich Council on Aging this week, Bob W received a volunteer aw ard for over
4,000 hours of service. Wow -- Good work, Bob!
Dianne will be receiving a teacher of the year award next week. Sincere congratulations!
June 5
th
is the Charter Ceremony and induction of officers for the Aktion Club, at 4:30 pm at
the Boys and Girls Club of Cape Cod in Mashpee. They had a successful officers’ training
session this past week. The Challenger Club may be developing into an Aktion Club so we
may soon have two on the Cape. If anyone would like to be an advisor, please let Len know.
Correspondence was received recently from Dream Day, to thank us for sponsoring a family’s
one-week stay again this year. Kiwanis International also acknowledged our Skip-A-Meal
donation of $148 which they will match to help children in need. In addition, on June 12
th
the
Pan-Mass Challenge’s bike ride will extend to Provincetown and they wondered if we are
interested in helping – If you would like to spearhead this effort, please let Len know.
Pablo reported on a highly successful Pancake Breakfast, offering special thanks to Jack B,
Rev Richard, and Bob W who all helped set up while he was away. Last Sunday, we fed 253
“paying” adults and 19 children, plus all who helped. This was the best breakfast in 5 years,
with a profit increase of $300 compared with last year. The estimated net profit for the event
itself was $1670.00; in addition to $1450 for placemat ads (thanks to Rev Richard and Sam for
selling the most!). We were helped greatly by 6 key clubbers and the 1 builder’s club
member; and Ed suggested that we send a note to their school principals highlighting their
efforts. See last page for photos!
This past Tuesday, Len, Mike Smith and Jack B attended the Bourne Club meeting, and they
hope to charter soon. This coming weekend is the KFNE (Kiw anis Foundation of New
England) meeting in Danvers.
The Plant Sale is still on for next weekend. Additional cardboard “beer trays” would be helpful
– Please bring these in next week. Folks with trucks and trailers should try to help out with
Friday’s set-up so the tables can be picked up from the shed.
Excellent Job on the Pancake Breakfast and Membership Club Survey. Thank you, Pablo and Evelyn!!

Many $$ were given in appreciation for the Pancake Breakfast and for Pablo’s hard work.
Evelyn was also thanked for her excellent job with the club survey. Lou was happy to be back
and for his new knee. Many expressed “Happy Mother’s Day” to all the moms. Thanks were
shared for our Key and Builders Clubs on the Cape – filled with great kids; and for the
incredible young people who applied this year for scholarships – making us truly hopeful.
Charlie was happy to report that his granddaughter’s 1
st
communion was coming up this
weekend, and she will be singing a solo. The Smiths were equally proud of their
granddaughter’s first recital at age 4. Pablo was thankful to all who helped with the Pancake
Breakfast. Good luck $$ were given for the Plant Sale. Jack B was grateful for his graduating
and employed son. Rev Richard was pleased to report that Scooter has just 2 therapy
sessions left, and he can now go up stairs. And Anton thanked all of the men in the room who
helped all of the women in the room (and elsewhere) become mothers. . . . .

Board Business
Len reminded members that Board Meeting Minutes and Club Financials are posted on our website.
We may hold our Yard Sale this year in September at the Council on Aging in Brewster.
We are currently looking for an Interclub Chairperson. Let Len know if you are interested.
Pablo is willing to co-chair the Pancake Breakfast next year, but we are looking for a new chair to train – for
next year and into the future. If interested, please let Len and Pablo know.
Much time was spent at the Board Meeting reviewing the preliminary results of the Membership Survey.
Based on club survey results, it is apparent that our club is very much in need of a Publicity Chairperson. We
would like to start posting on our website a list of potential speakers to assist members with that effort. Evelyn
has volunteered to create a New Members packet, as well as a new list for our club name badges – Thank
you, Evelyn, for all of your efforts! Len plans to spend some time in the next few months at our club meetings
discussing issues raised and suggestions made as part of this Kiwanis International club survey.
Board Meetings next year will continue at the Harwich Community Center as currently scheduled.
Mike Smith continues to work on a new fundraiser for the Fall – a Flea Market at the Harwich Community
Center sometime after Dick and Ellies has closed for the season. A committee would be ideal to assist in this
effort. So far Mike Smith and Jack B have volunteered. If anyone else is interested, please let Mike know.
Outstanding issues – 501c3 status, a club liability/authorization form for published photos, and the DY signs.
We need you to help at the plant sale next weekend!
