Club Updates and Events
Birthdays: Bob Duarte – 6/29
Health & Wellness: No news is very good news . . . . as “they” say.
Interclubs: Bob D, Bob W, Glen, Susan, Mike Smith, Len and Irene are all representing our
club at the Kiwanis International (KI) Convention in Las Vegas, even as we meet.
Nauset Key Club: The installation of new officers will be held in September. Their Key Club
advisor, Paul Markovich, has expressed an interest in joining our club. Len and Evelyn will
follow up with him on his potential membership.
Bottles & Cans: Pablo, Ursel, Larry, Jack D, Evelyn and Mike Sheehan all volunteered to
assist.
Safe Harbor: Evelyn, Mike Sheehan, Ursel, Larry, Len and Irene all pitched in to paint a three-
room unit at their shelter on June 20
th
– and a mighty fine (and big) job it was!
Wishing Wells: Pablo is now picking up donations every other week in Orleans. His last pick-
up yielded $29.22 – “All in pennies”, he claimed. (We’ll take them!!)
50/50 Winner: Chuck, who donated his winnings to the Scholarship Fund.

Announcements
Sam began his announcements by mentioning Dave Wadsworth’s practice of being sure to
remind then-President Sam of the need to help with Happy Dollars and 50/50.
Our “movers and shakers” are now at the Las Vegas KI Convention. “May they stay there
and have fun!” Mike Smith called Sam from there, just to check in.
Central Cape Kiwanis Club would appreciate any help we can provide them for their July 3rd
Pancake Breakfast.
Rev Richard reported that the 8/19-8/22 NE District Kiwanis (NEDK) Convention paperwork
is now available via paper or online. Also, a Thank You from DY was received for the recent
scholarships.
Jack B reported that KI just announced its new Worldwide Service project: The ELIMINATE
Project - aimed at eliminating Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus by 2015. MNT “steals the lives
of over 60,000 innocent babies and 30,000 mothers each year.” KI will work with UNICEF on
this vital effort, estimated to cost over $110 Million, and requiring 129 million mothers, and their
new babies be inoculated.
Life in an RV
Chapter Two
(Note: This photo was taken on
April 2
nd
, just after
Dick’s return from his latest
RV adventure. Can you tell?
Or is that Bubba?)
Today’s Program: Dick shared more of his travel experiences today, including the tale of
when his motor home broke down, he called AAA, and finally got service -
hours later
- from
Bubba with a gigantic tow truck. Bubba got him back to the shop where it was determined a
part had to be ordered from the far west. Eventually the fix was made and he was on his way.
For additional details, you can either chat with Dick himself, or read his upcoming book, “Travels with
Lovey” (When is that coming out? – Sure to be a best seller!).

Dianne was very happy that she was chosen for the Harwich Junior Theatre’s Pippi
Longstocking role (as a mean woman!) – Congratulations! (How do we get tickets?)
?
Rev Richard was glad to let us know that the Brewster White Caps are in 1
st
Place.
A number of members expressed well wishes to those who went to Vegas, and were glad
to be here and not there!
Charlie was grateful for attending his granddaughter’s dance recital in RI.
Congrats to Ginny for 10 years as Harwich’s Brooks Free Library Director on June 30
th
.
Murray was glad for this wonderful weather.
Larry was happy for his two granddaughters visiting this week.
Evelyn expressed gratitude for being able to help at Safe Harbor.
Sam had a good time visiting Moonachie, NJ and the Bendix Diner that he and Mary Jane
used to enjoy (but now it’s down on its heels).
Mary Jane herself had but 2 words to say “#1”! (which surely says it all. . . .)
Jack B was glad his youngest son Matthew is almost home from his 2-week trip to
Shanghai to see his gal; but worried that JoAnne is not fully recovered from pneumonia.
Dick was relieved we all survived the severe storms on the Cape last night.
Pablo was thankful he doesn’t own an RV after hearing Dick’s motor home story!
